How To Use Salt To Combat Blackheads And Pimples

A product as modest as salt has fantastic uses in beauty treatments. This time we teach you to use it as an exfoliant and astringent to combat blackheads and pimples

Blackheads and pimples are a type of mild acne that occurs when the pores of the skin become clogged by excess oil production and constant exposure to impurities in the environment. Factors such as stress or diet can worsen acne, according to this study from the Mayo Clinic. Although they do not usually cause health difficulties, they are considered an aesthetic problem that requires a solution.

In this sense, the cosmetic industry has developed hundreds of treatments that purify the skin while removing the annoying comedones. However, many do not have enough money to access them or are sensitive to the components they use. Luckily, there is also a wide catalog of natural remedies that offer very similar effects without having to spend more.

This time we want to share several recipes with salt whose astringent and antibacterial properties can contribute to cleaner skin without blemishes.

What are the benefits of salt against blackheads and pimples?

Salt is an ingredient known throughout the world for its uses in gastronomy. However, beyond being good for flavoring dishes, it has properties that can be exploited from an aesthetic point of view.

First of all, its exfoliating action stands out, ideal for removing dead cells and all those harmful particles that adhere to the skin. Its application through gentle massages favors blood circulation and promotes oxygenation of cells to repair it.

It also acts as a powerful astringent tonic, as it is able to clean pores and reduce excess sebum secretion. As a treatment against mild degrees of acne it is beneficial, since in addition to cleaning it reduces the presence of bacteria that cause it as it is a great disinfectant. This is stated in this study carried out by the Hospital ClĂnico de la Mutual de Seguridad (Chile).

However, it is important to bear in mind that in some cases the excessive elimination of water in the skin can cause hyperosmolarity, thus causing irritations. Therefore, it is important to always be attentive to the state of our skin. It is better to stop using or reduce the frequency of these treatments if we notice these symptoms, as they may not be suitable for our skin type.
