Fruit Parfaits

The parfaits  (in French “perfect”) are very simple preparations to make that provide a delicious taste at snack time. And can they qualify as desserts? yes, in fact, it has several variants, depending on the ingredients used. Some have spirits, others gelatin, nuts, granola, whipped cream, and so on.

In countries like the United States, parfaits are served “with everything”; that is, with ice cream, whipped cream, liquor, jelly, fruits, granola and many other ingredients. These are true flavor bombs.

Now, to prepare some very tasty fruit parfaits , without overdoing it with caloric and sugary ingredients, it is necessary to follow the line of some recipes, such as the ones that we will share with you below.

Parfaits with cheese and honey

The following parfaits not only feature an exquisite fruit mix but also have a crunchy touch thanks to the granola. A smooth and flavorful bite to try. To prepare 4 servings you will need the following.

Ingredients

  • 2 kiwis (60-70 g).
  • 1 peach (20-25 g).
  • 1 cup of strawberries (100 g).
  • 4 tablespoons of honey (40 g).
  • 4 tablespoons of granola (40 g).
  • ¼ cup of cottage cheese (25 g). 
  • 2 jars of skimmed yogurt (250 g).

Preparation

  • Peel and cut the fruits into small or medium pieces.
  • You can mix them all in a bowl or add them between layers to the parfait. 
  • In another bowl, mix the yogurt, cottage cheese, and honey.
  • Prepare individual cups or servings as follows: a layer of fruit, a layer of yogurt and cheese, another layer of fruit, and another layer of yogurt.
  • When finished, add a tablespoon of granola on top. If you want, you can decorate with nuts or a few more slices of strawberries.
  • Serve immediately. Another option is to keep it well covered in the fridge and have a delicious dessert for when you want.

    Mixed fruit parfaits

    Ingredients

    • 1 and a half cups of granola (150 g).
    • 2 jars of vanilla yogurt (250 g).
    • 2 cups of fresh fruits (banana, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, mango, pineapple, etc.) (200 g).

    Preparation

    • Cut the fruits into small slices or small cubes.
    • Integrate all in a container.
    • Arrange four cups or containers.
    • Place ¼ cup of granola, ¼ cup of yogurt and ¼ cup of fruit in each of them.
    • You can eat right away or cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge to enjoy later.

    ‘Floating’ fruit parfaits

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup of strawberries (50 g).
    • Some ice cubes.
    • ½ cup of cold water (50 ml).
    • 1 cup of whipped cream (100 g).
    • 1/4 cup of boiling water (25 ml).
    • 1 package of strawberry flavored gelatin (650 g).

    Preparation

    • Cut the strawberries into slices and spread over the base of 6 dessert glasses.
    • In a bowl, mix the gelatin sachet with the boiling water until completely dissolved.
    • Add all the ice cubes that are necessary to cool the mixture (you can also have the gelatin already prepared from before).
    • Pour the gelatin over the strawberry in each glass.
    • If the gelatin is not made, put it in the fridge for 20 minutes.
    • Beat the cream and add it to the surface of the glasses.
    • Return to the fridge for 1 hour so that the dessert is firm.

     ‘Romantic’ parfaits

    Strawberry Cup

    Ingredients

    • 1 can of mango (480 g).
    • Strawberries or raspberries (to taste).
    • 1 jar of vanilla yogurt (125 g).
    • 2 tablespoons of sugar (20 g).
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (5 ml).
    • 1 package of vanilla or lemon cookies (154 g).

    Preparation

    • Prepare two jars or glasses.
    • In a bowl, mix the vanilla essence with the sugar and yogurt.
    • Crush the cookies so that you have small pieces.
    • Open the can of peaches (they can also be fresh) and chop into cubes.
    • Chop the strawberries into cubes.
    • Make the fruit and yogurt parfaits : first there is a layer of cookies, then a peach, third a yogurt. Then again cookies, now strawberries and finally yogurt. Before finishing, sprinkle with the leftover cookies.
    • Cover with plastic wrap or close the lid and refrigerate until ready to consume.

    As you can see, fruit parfaits are very simple and can be prepared with the ingredients we want. The funniest thing of all is that, with some ingredients, like strawberries, we can give them ‘color’ and make them more special.
